Thirty-four small (4mm) ivory pearls are carefully hand-knotted on pale pink silk cord in the tin cup or floating style. A mabe (blister) pearl displays as a pendant, set off by two glinting Swarovski crystals. A 2-inch silver-filled extension chain allows you to secure the necklace between 17 and 19 inches with a sterling silver lobster clasp.
The mabe pearl is a cultured pearl that grows on the mollusk's shell rather than within the body. The shell can then be cut in a design (in this case, a teardrop) to present the pearl to best advantage. The light pink silk cord mimics the softest of pink sand and allows the necklace to fall with a beautiful drape while providing a strong fiber to hold your pearls. The tin cup (or floating) style includes the silk as part of the design - about a quarter inch of the silk shows between each pearl.
